Our history

Chapple Signs was established in 1969 by Rodney and Marianne Chapple.

Rodney’s tutor recognised his talent for signwriting at an early age when he was training at college as a painter and decorator. With his keen eye for attention and a steady hand, Rodney was selected and transferred to the signwriting course.

After graduating college, Rodney and Marianne worked from their family home. With Marianne’s head for business and Rodney’s passion for signwriting, the foundations of Chapple Signs were built.

Signwriting vehicles back then was very different; with vehicles being signwritten by hand, a vehicle could take up to a week to finish. Signwriting by hand is still a service that Chapple Signs offers today.

Marianne & Rodney were later joined by their sons, Kevin and Mathew, and the company has since grown from strength to strength.

With more space needed, Chapple Signs moved to larger premises and has now been based at Charles Industrial Estate in Stowmarket for ten years.

Kevin and Mathew are proud to now run the family business, with the same level of passion and commitment as their late parents. Embracing the latest technology and using high-quality products, Chapple Signs remains well respected in the industry.
